Bezienswaardigheden / tips Old Orchard Beach 2025: 

1) Old Orchard Beach: Het stadje Old Orchard Beach ligt ten westen van Saco, ongeveer 20 km van de grootste stad in Maine, Portland en heeft een prachtig zandstrand ter lengte van circa 11 km. Vanaf de imposante op houten palen rustende pier, die 150 meter uitsteekt in zee, met zijn kleine winkels, kraampjes en restaurants heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de bedrijvigheid op het strand. Kinderen vermaken zich aan de pier, met de speelhallen en eetstandjes, een achtbaan, een glijbaan van 18 meter en een midgetgolfbaan van 36 holes met watervallen. Vanaf eind juni tot Labor Day (begin september) wordt er elke donderdag om 21.45 (9:45 p.m) op het strand naast de pier vuurwerk afgestoken. Old Orchard Beach is best wel oubollig. Waar de stranden in Hampton Beach erg groot en overzichtelijk zijn, zijn de stranden hier erg klein en zit je behoorlijk dicht op elkaar. Je houdt ervan of je vindt het helemaal niks. Voor kinderen is het een leuke plek om te vertoeven, voor volwassen alleen denk ik dat je hier niet heel veel te zoeken hebt. Ook is parkeren hier erg lastig waardoor je soms lang aan het rondrijden bent om je auto te parkeren. 

2) Old Orchard Beach Pier: De Old Orchard Beach Pier werd voor het eerst geopend voor het publiek op 2 juli 1898 en bood allerlei soorten entertainment, waaronder concerten, dansen, lezingen en een casino aan het einde van de pier. Vandaag de dag vind je hier veel restaurants en souveniers winkels en is het erg populair bij gezinnen. 

3) Palace Playland: Palace Playland ligt direct aan het strand en is een groot kermis attractie voor jong en oud. Je vind hier een reuzenrad, draaimolen, twee achtbanen en andere attracties. Er zijn genoeg snoep en eettentjes, voldoende arcadespellen en souvenierswinkels. Ook voor de allerkleinste is er voldoende aanbod van attracties.

1) Old Orchard Beach: The town of Old Orchard Beach is located west of Saco, about 12 miles (20 km) from Maine’s largest city, Portland, and has about 7 miles (11 km) of beautiful sandy beaches. From the impressive pier resting on wooden stilts, which extends 150 meters (492 feet) into the sea, with its small shops, stalls and restaurants, you have a beautiful view of the activity on the beach. Kids will have fun at the pier, with the arcades and food stands, a roller coaster, a 60-foot slide and a 36-hole miniature golf course with waterfalls. From late June to Labor Day (early September), fireworks are set off every Thursday at 9:45 p.m. on the beach next to the pier. Old Orchard Beach is quite old-fashioned. Where the beaches in Hampton Beach are very large and well-organized, the beaches here are very small and you are sitting quite close to each other. You either love it or you don't like it at all. For children it is a nice place to hang out, but for adults I don't think there is much to do here. Parking here is also very difficult, which means you sometimes have to drive around for a long time to park your car.

2) Old Orchard Beach pier: The Old Orchard Beach Pier first opened to the public on July 2, 1898, offering entertainment of all types – including concerts, dancing, lectures, and a casino located at the very end of the pier. Nowadays, you will find many restaurants and souvenir shops here and it is very popular with families. 

3) Palace Playland: Palace Playland is located directly on the beach and is a large funfair attraction for young and old. You will find a Ferris wheel, a merry-go-round, two roller coasters and other attractions. There are plenty of sweets and food stalls, enough arcade games and souvenir shops. There is also a sufficient range of attractions for the little ones.

Vandaag de dag vind je verschillende restaurants, souvenirs en sieraden winkels op de pier. Vanaf de pier heb je een mooi overzicht van het strand. 

Nowadays, you will find several restaurants, souvenirs and jewelry shops on the pier. From the pier you have a nice overview of the beach.  





             Old Orchard Beach is een bekende en bijzonder populaire badplaats onder de mensen van Maine.

In de zomer is Old Orchard Beach een levendig kermisterrein met alle denkbare attracties, waaronder de enige houten achtbaan van de staat Maine, een waterpark en een reuzenrad (zie film).

In the summer is Old Orchard Beach a lively fairground with every imaginable attraction, including the state of Maine's only wooden roller coaster, a water park and a Ferris wheel (see film). 





Je vindt er vele hotels, motels, vakantiehuisjes, souvenirs winkels en het amusementspark Palace Playland (hier op de film).
