Bezienswaardigheden / tips Quechee Gorge State Park 2025:
1) Quechee Gorge State Park: Quechee Gorge State Park heeft een kloof die zo'n 13.000 jaar geleden door gletsjers ontstond. Het beste zicht op de kloof heb je vanaf Route 4, die via een stalen brug (de schraagbrug, 1911) de kloof passeert. Vanaf hier heb heb je een fantastisch uitzicht. Als je de busladingen toeristen wilt vermijden, kies dan voor een van de paden die langs fraaie watervallen naar de bodem van de kloof voeren.
2) Watervallen: Als je op zoek bent naar grote watervallen, zul je er geen vinden in de kloof; je moet naar de kop van de kloof wandelen, waar je een waterval zult vinden die onder een dam stroomt, genaamd Mill Pond Falls, ook aangeduid als Dewey's Mill. De watervallen onder de dam zijn mooi, en het is een gemakkelijke wandeling om ze te bereiken.
3) VINS Nature Center: Het VINS Nature Center is een reservaat waar gewonde roofvogels worden verzorgd tot ze weer terug de natuur in kunnen. De natuurkenners geven regelmatig presentaties over de uilen, valken en arenden die hier verzorgd worden, maar organiseren ook natuurbehoudprojecten en zomerdagkampen voor kinderen. Een entree ticket kost $ 19,50 per volwassen. Het geld gaat naar onderwijs en de verzorging van zieke vogels.

1) Quechee Gorge State Park: Quechee Gorge State Park has a gorge created by glaciers about 13,000 years ago. The best view of the gorge is from Route 4, which crosses the gorge via a steel bridge (the trestle bridge, 1911). From here you have a fantastic view. If you want to avoid the busloads of tourists, choose one of the trails that lead past beautiful waterfalls to the bottom of the canyon.
2) Waterfalls: If you are looking for major waterfalls, you will not find any within the gorge; you have to hike to the head of the gorge where you will find a waterfall flowing below a dam, called Mill Pond Falls, but occasionally referred to as Dewey's Mill. The cascades and plunges below the dam are pretty, and it is an easy walk reach them. Visiting the falls helps conclude a fine trip to Quechee Gorge, Vermont longest and most famous gorge
3) VINS Nature Center: The VINS Nature Center is a reserve where injured birds of prey are cared for until they can return to the wild. The naturalists regularly give presentations about the owls, falcons and eagles that are cared for, as well as organize conservation projects and summer day camps for children. An entrance ticket costs $ 19.50 per adult. The money goes to education and caring for sick birds.

Quechee Gorge Visitor Center in Hartford Vermont, heeft in rood twee verdiepingen tellende houten framconstructie met schuin dak en is speciaal ontworpen om eruit te zien als de schuren en pakhuizen die overblijfselen waren van de spoorlijn. Vermont's Little Grand Canyon” is de uitdrukking die wordt gebruikt om de kilometerslange Quechee Gorge te beschrijven. Je kunt de hele kloof overzien vanaf de US-4 schraagbrug. Vanaf de brug is het zicht adembenemend mooi. Dit biedt een vrij schilderachtig en wild uitzicht op de vallei waar de rivier de Ottauquechee zich een weg doorheen heeft gebaand.

In het museum vindt je heel veel informatie over fossielen en de pre-historie van dit gebied. Een van de taken die VINS op zich neemt, is om vogels weer gezond te maken en weer vrij te laten in het wild.

VINS heeft federale en staatsvergunningen die het mogelijk maken om vogels te hebben die kunnen worden gebruikt in educatieve programma's. De roofvogels die voor onderwijs worden gebruikt, kunnen niet in het wild worden vrijgelaten omdat ze het niet zouden overleven (see film).

VINS heeft ook tentoonstellingsvogels die niet voor educatieve programma's worden gebruikt; deze gewonde vogels leven in buitenverblijven. VINS heeft 18 verblijven waarin tientallen roofvogels zitten.
