Bezienswaardigheden / tips 2026:

1) Shoshone Falls: The Shoshone Falls liggen 6 km ten oosten van Twin Falls. Met 65 meter zijn ze zelfs hoger dan de Niagara Falls. De Idaho Power Company benut de waterval om energie te winnen, met als gevolg dat enkele dammen afbreuk doen aan het schouwspel. Ten zuiden van de waterval vindt je een uitkijkpunt. Het uitstapje erheen loont vooral in het voorjaar. In het voorjaar kort na de dooi komt hun indrukwekkende hoogte van 65 meter beter tot zijn recht. De Shoshone Falls kunnen in de late zomer en de herfst bijna opgedroogd zijn. De entree is gratis maar je moet wel $ 5,00 voor parkeren betalen. 

2) Perrine Bridge: Een bijzondere attractie is de Perrine Bridge over de Snake River, die op 150 meter hoogte de hele breedte van de canyon overspant. Deze brug wordt door professionele basejumpers als startpunt gebruikt om in de diepte te springen. Het basejumpen is hier toegestaan sinds 1996 en er komen springers uit de hele wereld op af. In zomerweekends zijn soms honderden mensen vanwege de brug in de stad. Het is in elk geval razendspannend om toe te kijken bij zo'n sprong met een parachute of wingsuit. 

3) Centennial Waterfront Park: Het Centennial Waterfront Park ligt slechts 15 minuten van the Shoshone Falls. Het is een groot recreatie gebied tussen de canyons aan de Snake River. Vanaf hier heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de Perrine Bridge en kun je kleine watervallen bezichtigen. Er zijn voldoende trails uitgezet maar je kunt hier ook kayaken en peddle boats huren. Ideaal om heerlijk te ontspannen. 

4) Goed om te weten: Idaho heeft weinig wegen, dus de meeste worden ook aangeduid als scenic byway, om toeristen kennis te laten maken met dunbevolkte regio's. De meeste bezoekers komen uit de buurstaten, ze kennen de mooie plekjes voor het vliegvissen. Zorg voordat je de bergen in gaat voor een volle tank. Ook drinken en etenswaren moeten worden meegenomen, winkels en restaurants zul je onderweg weinig tegenkomen.

1) Shoshone Falls: The Shoshone Falls are located 4 miles (6 km) east of Twin Falls. At 213 feet (65 meters) they are even higher than the Niagara Falls. Het park is de beste plek om te beginnen als je BASE Jumpers van onderaf wilt zien, peddelend onder de Perrine brug (hier op de foto) of aan de voet van Shoshone Falls (zie film).
