Bezienswaardigheden / tips Rosemary Beach 2026:

1) Rosemary Beach: Rosemary Beach is een heel bijzondere badplaats aan de noordwestkust van Florida, aan de Golf van Mexico. Het ligt aan de beroemde Scenic Highway 30A, tussen Destin en Panama City Beach. Het is een kleinschalige, luxe kustgemeenschap die in 1995 werd ontwikkeld. Een van de opvallendste kenmerken zijn de huizen en gebouwen met invloeden uit Nederlands West Indies, New Orleans, Charleston en het Caribisch gebied. Rosemary Beach is speciaal ontworpen om te wandelen en te fietsen. Het is vooral een bestemming voor mensen die een combinatie zoeken van prachtig strand, luxe, rust, mooie architectuur, lekker eten en een sfeervol dorpje. Het is minder een drukke feestbestemming en meer een stijlvolle badplaats. Het is dus niet echt een jongeren-/feestbestemming wat ideaal is voor mensen die op zoek zijn naar rust maar ook gezelligheid.

2) Main Street: Main Street loopt vanuit het centrum richting het strand en vormt het belangrijkste winkel- en horecagebied. De straat heeft bakstenen bestrating, balkons, restaurants en boetiekjes. Ook zijn er veel terrassen en zie je overal veel bloemen staan. 'S avonds is het hier reuze gezellig en het heeft een Europese sfeer. Main Street is de straat waar het 's avonds plaats vindt, het gezelligste uitgangscentrum in Rosemary Beach.

3) Barrett Square: Aan het einde van Main Street kom je bij South en North Barrett Square. Dit is eigenlijk het centrale plein van Rosemary Beach. Hier komen verschillende straten samen en vind je winkels, restaurants en terrassen. Het is vooral leuk om hier even te gaan zitten en mensen te kijken.

4) Timpoochee Trail: De Timpoochee Trail is een ongeveer 18,5 mijl (30 km) lang, verhard fietspad dat vrijwel parallel loopt aan Scenic Highway 30A. De route loopt van Dune Allen in het westen tot Inlet Beach in het oosten en voert door 12 van de 16 kustgemeenschappen van South Walton. De trail is vlak en relatief eenvoudig, waardoor hij geschikt is voor fietsen, wandelen en skeeleren. Onderweg kom je langs prachtige stranden, duinen, natuurgebieden en de bijzondere coastal dune lakes. Ook passeer je bekende plaatsen zoals Seaside, WaterColor, Alys Beach en Rosemary Beach.

5) Fiets huren: Het is dus erg leuk om een fiets te huren en Rosemary Mary op de fiets te verkennen. Ook is een fietstocht over de Timpoochee Trail erg interessant om te doen. De dichtstbijzijnde fietsverhuurmaatschappij is Bamboo Bicycle Company. Deze zit in Rosemary Beach zelf, aan 78 N Barrett Square. De officiële Rosemary Beach-site noemt Bamboo Bicycle Company ook specifiek als de lokale fietsverhuur. Een tweede goede optie is Peddlers 30A, maar die zit in Seacrest. Seacrest ligt slechts op 10 minuten afstand vanaf Rosemary Beach. 

6) 30A Farmers Market: In Rosemary Beach is er een wekelijkse Farmers Market, en die is er het hele jaar door op zondag. De markt begint om 09.00 tot 13.00 op North Barret Square, de markt staat onder de bomen rondom het plein. Je vindt hier lokale ambachtelijke producten, verse groenten en fruit, brood en gebak, verse vis en bloemen. De markt staat dus midden in Rosemary Beach, waardoor je hem heel gemakkelijk kunt combineren met een wandeling door het dorp en daarna het strand.

7) Het strand van Rosemary Beach: Het strandgedeelte dat bij Rosemary Beach hoort, is geen openbaar strand. Rosemary Beach heeft 9 privé-strandopgangen (private beach walkovers). Deze zijn bedoeld voor huiseigenaren en geregistreerde gasten van accommodaties binnen de Rosemary Beach-gemeenschap. Bij vakantiehuizen wordt expliciet vermeld dat gasten toegang krijgen tot deze privé-stranden. Dit is eigenlijk onderdeel van het concept van Rosemary Beach. De gemeenschap wil het strand relatief rustig en verzorgd houden voor bewoners en geregistreerde gasten. De officiële Rosemary Beach-organisatie beschrijft de strandservice ook specifiek als een voorziening voor homeowners and guests. De kustlijn van deze omgeving heeft ook openbare strandtoegangen.

8) Inlet Beach: Dit is wat mij betreft de beste openbare strandoptie als je in Rosemary Beach bent. Het ligt ongeveer 1,6 km van Rosemary Beach. Er is gratis parkeergelegenheid (303 W Park Place Ave of 435 W Park Place Ave met ongeveer 100 plekken), toiletten, douches, drinkwater, fietsenrekken en een toegang die geschikt is voor rolstoelen. In het seizoen zijn hier ook lifeguards aanwezig. Het is een stuk minder exclusief en meer ontspannen dan Rosemary Beach, maar heeft hetzelfde prachtige witte zand en turquoise water.

9) Camp Helen State Park: Op ongeveer 2,4 km afstand vanaf Rosemary Beach ligt Camp Helen State Park, een mooi en rustig natuurgebied direct aan de Golf van Mexico. Je hebt hier een openbaar strand en het is hier veel rustiger en natuurlijker dan de stranden rond Rosemary Beach. Behalve zwemmen kun je hier ook wandelen en wildlife bekijken. Er lopen verschillende wandelpaden door de duinen en het bos. Voor natuur en rustzoekers is dit de perfecte plek. Voor een gezin met jonge kinderen zou ik voor de Inlet Beach kiezen. Er zijn geen Life Guards aanwezig en het is ongeveer 0,6 mijl / 1 km lopen over een zandpad met zacht zand om bij de zee te komen. Ik zou daarom eerder Inlet Beach Regional Access kiezen, omdat je daar veel makkelijker bij het strand komt en meer voorzieningen hebt. Camp Helen State Park is open vanaf 08.00 uur tot zonsondergang. Parkeren is $ 4,00 per auto.

1) Rosemary Beach: Rosemary Beach is a very special seaside resort on the northwest coast of Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. It is located on the famous Scenic Highway 30A, between Destin and Panama City Beach. It is a small-scale, luxury coastal community that was developed in 1995. One of the most striking features is the houses and buildings with influences from the Dutch West Indies, New Orleans, Charleston, and the Caribbean. Rosemary Beach is specifically designed for walking and cycling. It is primarily a destination for people seeking a combination of a beautiful beach, luxury, tranquility, beautiful architecture, delicious food, and a charming village. It is less of a busy party destination and more of a stylish seaside resort. Therefore, it is not really a youth or party destination, which is ideal for people looking for peace as well as a lively atmosphere.

2) Main Street: Main Street runs from the center towards the beach and forms the main shopping and dining area. The street features brick paving, balconies, restaurants, and boutiques. There are also many terraces, and you see lots of flowers everywhere. In the evenings, it is very lively here and has a European atmosphere. Main Street is the street where the nightlife happens, the liveliest nightlife center in Rosemary Beach.

3) Barrett Square: At the end of Main Street, you arrive at South and North Barrett Square. This is essentially the central square of Rosemary Beach. Various streets converge here, and you will find shops, restaurants, and terraces. It is especially nice to sit here for a while and watching people walk-by.

4) Timpoochee Trail: The Timpoochee Trail is an approximately 18.5-mile (30 km) long paved bike path that runs almost parallel to Scenic Highway 30A. The route runs from Dune Allen in the west to Inlet Beach in the east and passes through 12 of the 16 coastal communities of South Walton. The trail is flat and relatively easy, making it suitable for cycling, walking, and rollerblading. Along the way, you will pass beautiful beaches, dunes, nature reserves, and the unique coastal dune lakes. You will also pass well-known places such as Seaside, WaterColor, Alys Beach, and Rosemary Beach.

5) Renting a bike: It is great fun to rent a bike and explore Rosemary Mary by bike. A bike ride along the Timpoochee Trail is also very interesting. The nearest bike rental company is Bamboo Bicycle Company. It is located in Rosemary Beach itself, at 78 N Barrett Square. The official Rosemary Beach website also specifically lists Bamboo Bicycle Company as the local bike rental. A second good option is Peddlers 30A, but that is located in Seacrest. Seacrest is only 10 minutes away from Rosemary Beach.

6) 30A Farmers Market: In Rosemary Beach, there is a weekly Farmers Market, held year-round on Sundays. The market runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at North Barret Square, situated under the trees surrounding the square. Here you will find local artisanal products, fresh vegetables and fruit, bread and pastries, fresh fish, and flowers. The market is located right in the heart of Rosemary Beach, making it very easy to combine with a walk through the village followed by a trip to the beach.

7) The Beach of Rosemary Beach: The section of beach belonging to Rosemary Beach is not a public beach. Rosemary Beach has 9 private beach walkovers. These are intended for homeowners and registered guests of accommodations within the Rosemary Beach community. Vacation rentals explicitly state that guests are granted access to these private beaches. This is actually part of the concept of Rosemary Beach. The community aims to keep the beach relatively quiet and well-maintained for residents and registered guests. The official Rosemary Beach organization also specifically describes the beach service as a facility for homeowners and guests. The coastline of this area also features public beach access points.

8) Inlet Beach: In my opinion, this is the best public beach option if you are in Rosemary Beach. It is located about 1 mile (1.6 km) from Rosemary Beach. There is free parking (303 W Park Place Ave or 435 W Park Place Ave with approximately 100 parking spaces), restrooms, showers, drinking water, bike racks, and wheelchair access. Lifeguards are also present here during the season. It is a lot less exclusive and more relaxed than Rosemary Beach, but has the same beautiful white sand and turquoise water.

9) Camp Helen State Park: Camp Helen State Park is located approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from Rosemary Beach, a beautiful and peaceful nature reserve directly on the Gulf of Mexico. It features a public beach and is much quieter and more natural than the beaches around Rosemary Beach. Besides swimming, you can also hike and view wildlife here. Various hiking trails run through the dunes and the forest. This is the perfect spot for nature and peace seekers. For a family with young children, I would choose Inlet Beach. There are no lifeguards present, and it is about a 0.6-mile (1 km) walk along a sandy path with soft sand to reach the sea. Therefore, I would choose Inlet Beach Regional Access instead, as it is much easier to get to the beach and has more amenities. Camp Helen State Park is open from 8:00 AM until sunset. Parking is $4.00 per car.

De straat is vooral bedoeld om te wandelen en fietsen en wordt gekenmerkt door bakstenen bestrating, kronkelende paden, balkons en de typische architectuur van Rosemary Beach. Er zitten ook verschillende winkels en restaurants direct aan Main Street.

Aan en bij Main Street staat de Town Hall. Het gebouw werd in 1999 voltooid, dus slechts enkele jaren nadat Rosemary Beach in 1995 werd opgezet. De ontwerpers zagen de Town Hall als een belangrijk middelpunt van de nieuwe gemeenschap. Naast de Town Hall staat de Post Office en is veel kleiner, maar architectonisch sluit het prachtig aan bij de Town Hall. The building was completed in 1999, just a few years after Rosemary Beach was established in 1995. The designers saw the Town Hall as an important focal point of the new community. Standing next to the Town Hall is the Post Office, which is much smaller but architecturally complements the Town Hall beautifully. It was also built in the 1990s and features the same white stucco and the characteristic parapet roof.

Op een paar minuten afstand ligt Seacrest. Rosemary Beach en Seacrest liggen heel dicht bij elkaar; met de auto is de afstand ongeveer 3 minuten en lopend ongeveer 10 minuten. Bij Peddlers Pavilion is het gezellig winkelen en kun je ook eten of drinken.

Seacrest is a few minutes away. Rosemary Beach and Seacrest are very close to each other; the distance is about 3 minutes by car and about 10 minutes on foot. At Peddlers Pavilion, you can enjoy shopping and also have something to eat or drink.





Bij Peddlers 30A kun je fietsen huren én ook genieten van live muziek. Vanaf het voorjaar en de zomer is er bijna iedere avond live muziek.

At Peddlers 30A you can rent bicycles and also enjoy live music. From spring and summer there is live music almost every evening.
